Convert FOV between CS2, Valorant, Apex, Call of Duty, Overwatch 2, and more. Calculate horizontal and vertical field of view for any monitor aspect ratio.
FOV is the angle of the world the camera shows, in degrees. Games disagree on whether that angle is measured across the screen or down it, and at which aspect ratio, so converting means going through vertical FOV, the one value that stays fixed when the aspect ratio changes.
| Game | Measured | FOV |
|---|---|---|
| Apex Legends | horiz @ 4:3 | 104.00 |
| Battlefield 2042 | vert @ 16:9 | 87.66 |
| Call of Duty / Warzone | horiz @ 4:3 | 104.00 |
| Counter-Strike 2 | horiz @ 4:3 | 104.00 (locked 90) |
| CS:GO | horiz @ 4:3 | 104.00 (locked 90) |
| Fortnite | horiz @ 16:9 | 119.26 (locked 80) |
| Overwatch 2 | horiz @ 16:9 | 119.26 |
| Quake Champions | horiz @ 4:3 | 104.00 |
| Team Fortress 2 | horiz @ 4:3 | 104.00 |
| Valorant | horiz @ 16:9 | 119.26 (locked 103) |
Every row is the same 87.66° vertical view, written on each game's own scale. A locked game cannot be set, so its row shows what it would take to match.
Formula
vertical FOV = 2 × arctan( tan(horizontal FOV ÷ 2) ÷ aspect ratio )horizontal FOV = the angle measured across the screen, in degrees
vertical FOV = the angle measured down the screen, in degrees
aspect ratio = screen width divided by height, so 16:9 is 1.7778
Worked Example
Counter-Strike 90 FOV, which is defined at 4:3, shown on a 16:9 monitor
Did you know? Nearly every modern game scales Hor+, holding the vertical angle fixed and widening the horizontal to fill a wider monitor. That is why an ultrawide shows more at the sides rather than cropping the top and bottom, and why vertical FOV, not the slider number, is the value that carries between games.
